General Contra-indications, you CANNOT receive a massage if you have one of these conditions :

Intoxication (drugs and alcohol)
High Fever
Right After a Major Surgery
Meningitis
Severe unexplained internal pain
Severe Atherosclerosis
Acute Pneumonia
Pregnant women who are suffering from Eclampsia
Severe Hemophilia
Advanced Kidney Failure
Respiratory Failure
Liver Failure
Appendicitis
Highly Metastatic Cancers eg. lymphoma, malignant melanoma
Diabetes Mellitus 1 or 2 with advanced heart or kidney disease or advanced vascular complications
Sudden onset of severe undiagnosed headache
Organ Failure
Pitting Edema
Chronic active hepatitis
(Infective and non-infective) endocarditis/pericarditis.
Lung abscess or lung tumour
Sepsis (blood infection) or Bacteremia (blood stream infections)
Any contagious, airborne, infectious disease such as flu, colds, sore throat due to strep throat, shingles, etc.
Patients with Infectious Skin Conditions

Local contra-indications, for which a part of your body may be avoided to not upset an ailment :

Areas of acute inflammation
Acute Flare-Ups of Inflammatory Arthritides
Acute Neuritis (inflammation of a peripheral nerve or nerves, usually causing pain and loss of function)
Burns (recent burns)
(severe) Causalgia (severe burning pain in a limb caused by injury to a peripheral nerve)
Local Contagious Conditions ( note: some locally contagious conditions may be considered absolute contraindications such as athlete’s foot, warts, impetigo etc.)
Deep vein thrombosis
(undiagnosed) Lump, Cysts, Moles
(during) Radiation therapy treatment
Open Wounds or Sores
Phlebitis contraindications for massage
Severe Varicose Veins
Thromboangiitis Obliterans (Buerger’s disease)
(Acute) Trigeminal Neuralgia
Venomous Bites or Stings

Nothing special, but try to avoid alcohol for 24 hours before, and avoid eating a big meal on the day of your massage.

In short: no. Unfortunately, the shop has not been designed with wheelchair access in mind. If we have our largest studio on the ground floor, crucially:

• There is a small step in the entrance of the shop (5cm / 2in). 

• Our restroom is located in the basement, solely accessible by the stairs. 

If you are a first-time visitor to Maison Suriya, you will be asked to complete a short questionnaire covering medical history. This is for your safety, and to allow us to best tailor your treatment to your needs

We are sorry to say we cannot provide pregnancy massage (our insurance has particular requirements). If you are in your first trimester it is NOT recommended to have a body massage at all. If you would like to look for a massage elsewhere (in your 2nd or 3rd timesters) then we recommend you consult your GP first, and then find specialists in pregnancy massage.

We don’t provide shower facilities.

No. Your therapist will show you to your treatment room and then leave you in private to undress. They will knock before re-entering

When you make a reservation, we make sure that a room is prepared and a therapist is available. If you do need to cancel your appointment, please please let us know as soon as you can. If you paid a deposit, then provided that you make sure we get at least 12 hours’ notice of a cancellation or rescheduling, we will refund your deposit in full.

We're sorry but gift vouchers are only available to purchase in-store for now. You can always make online bookings in someone else's name

Absolutely not. Our services are entirely therapeutic and non-sexual. We will not tolerate sexual requests, "jokes", or inappropriate harassment of our staff.
